Semi permanent make up (also called permanent cosmetics) is a type of cosmetic tattooing using pharmaceutical grade pigments where a sterilized needle is used to tattoo tiny dots of pigment into the top layer of skin, enhancing your natural features.
What is Semi-Permanent Make up?
It is a process where advanced pigments are inserted into the dermal layer of the skin, which (after your second visit) should last for several years. Clients are patch tested prior to the first procedure to see if you have any allergic reaction to the pigment or anesthetic. 99.9% of our clients do not have any reaction at all.
How Long Does It Take To Have A Treatment?
You will need to allow 1 hr & 30 minutes for your first procedure. If you intend to have a "full face" (3 procedures together) then you should allow 3 hours in total.
How Long Does It Last?
Semi-Permanent Make-up should last for several years. Over that time the color will fade and break down. We recommend that you come back to us for a “top up” procedure every 18 months/2 years to keep the look complete and fresh. A “top up” appointment is half the current full treatment price.
Does It Hurt?
Some clients feel no discomfort at all - others feel minimal discomfort. We use topical anaesthetics to control pain tolerance. Once the procedure is complete there is virtually no discomfort whatsoever.
Will I Be Able To Go Out Without Everyone Noticing?
After a procedure the area treated will be darker, more intense. This will last for a few days until the area exfoliates and the true colour emerges. Generally it is only you who notices the darker colour. If anaesthetic is used you may swell slightly, this will go down usually by the end of the day. It is suggested that if you are having an eyeliner procedure that you bring a pair of dark glasses with you (as you may look as if you have been crying).A little inconvenient but the long term results are well worth it.
What About After Care?
At the end of the treatment we will explain how to look after the treated area and you will go home with some written information.

Pre-Treatment Advice
Permanent cosmetic treatments normally require multiple treatment sessions. For best results, you will be required to return for at least one touch up treatment between four and six weeks after the initial treatment.
Be prepared for the color intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the treatment. This will subside and become lighter as the tissue heals. This process can take up to 10 days.
Advice for all permanent cosmetic treatments
Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may be swollen or red, it is advised that you do not to make social plans for the same day.
Please wear your normal makeup to the salon on the day of the treatment.
A sensitivity patch test will be performed - this cannot be waived.
Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, or coumadin for two days before and two days after the treatment. However, you must not discontinue any medication before consulting your doctor.
Do not drink alcohol the night before your treatment.
Eyebrow treatments
Any waxing should be performed at least 48 hours before the treatment: Electrolysis no less than five days before the treatment.
Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for two weeks prior to the treatment.
Eyeliner treatments
Any eyelash tinting or eyelash perming should be carried out no sooner than one week before or two weeks after the treatment.
You may have some swelling. As a safety precaution, we recommend that you have someone available to drive you home. In most cases there is little swelling and the client drives chooses to drive themselves home but swelling can vary from person to person.
Do not wear contact lenses during or immediately following the treatment. Remember to bring your glasses. You may resume wearing your contact lenses as soon as your eyes feel comfortable. (This is normally 24 hours after the treatment.)
Lip contour/lip blush
If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex), we advise you to contact your doctor to obtain the proper prescription medication to prevent such outbreaks.
Alternatively, obtain herpes medication for example Zovirax from your local chemist and use one week before and one week after your treatment. This can help minimise an outbreak.
Permanent cosmetic treatments do not cause cold sores, however, if you carry the virus, it lays dormant in the body and can be aroused by the treatment.
Lip wax or bleaching treatments should not be undertaken for at least a two-week period preceding your permanent cosmetic treatment.
Breast and areola enhancements.
Many women that have gone through breast reconstruction after a mastectomy can have the final touches completed with areola restoration known as the nipple area.
Using pigments to match the original or remaining nipple we can reconstruct the nipple and areola and also help cover up any scarring from the operation.
Permanent cosmetics provides an important part in giving a substantial boost to body image, confidence and a gain of sense of normality and getting on with life again. The effects are perfectly realistic and natural.
Consultation
Prior to the reconstruction procedure, We will carry out a consultation to discuss the best color, positioning and size for the nipple and areola. All clients are treated with sensitivity and understanding.
Scarring & Areola Darkening
Permanent Cosmetics can also be applied after all kinds of breast surgery to disguise any scarring or to aesthetically improve the shape and color. Suitable for men and women.
